Day 1 – WARSAW ( D)

  • Arrival Warsaw, transfer to the hotel
  • Welcome dinner with folklore show at the local restaurant
  • Overnight in Warsaw

 

Day 2 – WARSAW ( B )

  • Buffet breakfast at the hotel
  • Half day morning city tour of Warsaw – an extraordinary city in which influences of Western and Eastern European culture cross. Warsaw’s historic buildings, palaces, churches and architectural complexes destroyed during WWII have been reconstructed with a great care. UNESCO appreciated Warsaw monuments and its relics and honored the city by placing the historical centre of Warsaw on the World Heritage List (in 1980 ). Visit Old Town, Barbican Walls, Castle Square with Sigismundus Column. Drive along Royal Route to Belvedere Palace and Lazienki park with Palace on the Water and F. Chopin Monument
  • Optional : Entrance to Royal Castlesite of Polish kings after moving the capital of Poland from Warsaw to Krakow or Wilanow Palace – summer residence of king Jan III Sobieski
  • Afternoon free
  • Overnight in Warsaw

 

Day 3 – WARSAW – Częstochowa – Auschwitz – ZAKOPANE ( B ) – 450 km

  • After breakfast departure for Zakopane
  • En-route visit Czestochowa and Jasna Gora Monastery with Poland’s national shrine and the miraculous picture of Black Madonna, destination of numerous pilgrimages of Roman Catholic from Poland and abroad
  • Continue to Auschwitz – former Nazi camp, now a memorial museum set up there after the war, a grim destination for hundreds of thousands visitors ( 1,5 million each year ) who want to pay homage to those who died there.
  • Arrival Zakopane, overnight

 

Day 4 – ZAKOPANE – KRAKOW ( B ) – 120 km

  • After breakfast sightseeing of Zakopane – lively resort and the best-known mountainous town located in a valley surrounded by the impressive Tatra mountains and the tiny hillside village. Zakopane is called Poland’s winter capital attracting tourist but also artists due to its unique folklore and specific wooden Walk along famous Krupowki Street and old part of the town with wooden houses in Zakopane’s architecture style, funicular train ride to Gubalowka Hill to admire the panorama of Tatras, visit Wooden Church and Old Cemetery. Time for shopping at local flea market
  • Depart for Krakow , on the way – raft trip on Dunajec River – an unique experience in Europe : a trip down a mountain river on a wooden boat through breathtaking Dunajec River Gorge and Pieniny Mountains
  • Arrival Krakow, overnight

 

Day 5 – KRAKOW – Wieliczka – KRAKOW ( B, D )

  • Morning city tour of Krakow – cultural capital of Poland and the European City of Culture in 2000 including Old Town ( UNESCO list 1978 ) with Barbican, Florian Gate, Market Square with Cloth Hall ( Sukiennice ) and St. Mary’s Church with famous altar designed by Witt Stwosz, Collegium Maius – the medieval Jagiellonian university building and entrance to Royal Wawel Castle.
  • In the afternoon visit famous Wieliczka Salt Mine – ( UNESCO list 1978 )3 km long underground tourist route with beautifully carved in salt chambers, chapels and statues .
  • Dinner with folklore show at local restaurant in Wieliczka
  • Overnight in Krakow

 

Day 6 – KRAKOW ( B )

  • After breakfast transfer to the airport for the departure flight
